First-aid measures

General information:
In case of accident or if you feel unwell seek medical advice (show label or SDS where possible).
After contact with the eyes:
Rinse immediately with plenty of water. Seek medical advice in case of continuous irritation.
After contact with the skin:
Wash with plenty of water or water and soap. In the event of a visible skin change or other complaints, seek medical advice (show label or SDS where possible).
After inhalation:
Provide fresh air.
After swallowing:
Give several small portions of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:
Water spray, extinguishing powder, alcohol-resistant foam.
Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:
According to our present state of knowledge: none known.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
At low oxygen level: acetic acid.
Advice for firefighters
Special protective equipment for fire fighting:
Use respiratory protection independent of recirculated air.
General information:
Cool endangered containers with water.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Wear personal protection equipment. Avoid dust formation.
Environmental precautions
Prevent material from entering sewers or surface waters. Observe local/state/federal regulations. Cover any spilled material in accordance with regulations to prevent dispersal by wind.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
Avoid dust formation. Damp down, absorb mechanically and dispose according to local/state/federal regulations. Only use explosion- and fire-resistant equipment.
Further information:
Eliminate all sources of ignition.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:
This is a research and development material and must be handled under the supervision of a technically qualified person. Avoid dust formation. Avoid breathing dust/vapor/mist/gas/aerosol. Increased risk of slipping if substance comes into contact with water.
Precautions against fire and explosion:
Danger of dust explosion: Do not stir up dust. Take precautionary measures against dust explosion. Avoid dust deposit, remove dust regularly. Fine dust may form explosive mixture with air.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Conditions for storage rooms and vessels:
Do not store in containers made of aluminum or other light metals.
Advice for storage of incompatible materials:
none known.
Further information for storage:
Protect against moisture.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure in the work place limited and controlled
General protection and hygiene measures:
Observe standard industrial hygiene practices for the handling of chemical substances. Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling. Do not breathe dust.
Personal protection equipment:
Respiratory protection:
In the event of dust formation, use of respiratory protective equipment is recommended. Filtering half-face mask, according to acknowledged standards such as EN 149.
Eye protection:
Recommendation: tight fitting protective goggles.
Hand protection:
Use of protective gloves is recommended when handling the material. For the choice of suitable gloves, workplace conditions have to be considered, like e.g. handling of other substances and materials.
Skin protection:
Recommendation in case of dust formation: protective clothing.
Exposure to the environment limited and controlled
Prevent material from entering surface waters, drains or sewers and soil.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity; Chemical stability; Possibility of hazardous reactions:
If stored and handled in accordance with standard industrial practices no hazardous reactions are known.
Conditions to avoid
High temperatures.
Incompatible materials:
Strong oxidizing agents.
Hazardous decomposition products
If stored and handled properly: none known.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods:Material:
Recommendation:
Dispose of according to regulations by incineration in a special waste incinerator. Small quantities may be disposed of by incineration in an approved facility. Observe local/state/federal regulations.
Uncleaned packaging:
Recommendation:
Completely discharge containers (no tear drops, no powder rest, scraped carefully). Containers may be recycled or re-used. Observe local/state/federal regulations.
