Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: - Move exposed person to fresh air. In case of indisposition

seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Eyes: - Rinse with plenty of water. If irritation occurs, seek

medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: - Wash with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: - Symptomatic treatment. In case of indisposition seek

medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: - Water, dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide.

Product arising from burning: - CO, CO2, NOx, SO2 and other toxic gases

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: - Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: - Wear protective clothing (dust mask, safety goggles and

impermeable gloves).

Solids:  Sweep up (wet powders with water) and place in

suitable containers for disposal.

Liquids: Absorb using an adequate absorbent (eg. kiesel-

guhr, sand, saw dust, kieselgel), collect and

place in suitable containers for disposal.

Dispose of waste material in authorised incineration

facility.

Handling and storage

Handling: - Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals. If

the substance is handled as powder, avoid skin contact and

inhalation of dust and wear impermeable gloves and dust

mask. Use equipment for handling powders or other approp-

riate engineering controls.

Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Storage: - The substance should be stored in well sealed and secure

containers in adequate rooms at room temperature.

Avoid dust residue outside the containers.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: - 20 or 30 kg (net) fiber drums

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: - None known.

Chemical reaction with water: - Stepwise reaction of FAT 40'530/A with water to a vinyla-

ted product in a first step and to a hydrolysed product

of the vinylated form in a second step.

Dust explosion: - Not to be expected if handled under good industrial hygie-

ne practices.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: - Normal application results in the consumption of approx.

88 % (exhausting procedure) by irreversible binding to

the textile fibres.

Recovery for recycling of the remaining substance is not

reasonably practicable.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: - No hazardous effect known, therefore not applicable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: - Not suitable for deposit in landfill site.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: - Code 661; incinerator with flue gas scrubbing

Discharge by incineration at high temperatures (>800°C)

in a suitable facility with the equipment necessary to

remove oxides of sulfur and nitrogen.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: - Code 641; removal by controlled discharge to a waste water

treatment plant

It is estimated that approx. 12 % of the total quantity

used is discharged into internal industrial effluents as

highly diluted solution. A purification of the waste

water in a waste water treatment plant is recommended.

The dyestuff should be used in a well equipped dye house.

The waster water can be purified by membrane filtration

or by floculation with cationic agents or by treatment

with ozone. The most effective method is the membrane fil-

tration: more than 99% of the remaining dyestuff can be

removed from the waste water.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: - None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: - Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: - Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: - Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: - Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: - Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: - Not applicable.
