Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Obtain medical attention if ill effects occur.

In all cases, speed of treatment is essential.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately irrigate with eye wash solution or clean water,

holding the eyelids apart for at least 10 minutes. Obtain

immediate medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove any contaminated clothing. Wash skin with water and

obtain immediate medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, foam, dry powder and carbon dioxide are

suitable.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon,

nitrogen and sulfur together with some soot.

Product determined by test: Y

Protective equipment: Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear full protective clothing including respiratory

protection. Protect against the formation of dust. Moisten

with water and transfer to a waste container for disposal by

incineration in accordance with local or national

legislation. Treat the spill area with sodium metabisulfite

solution and wash with water. Do not allow waste water to

enter drains, sewage or water courses.

Handling and storage

Handling: High standards of good occupational hygiene to avoid

ingestion, inhalation, skin and eye contact, should be

observed. Where engineering controls are inadequate, wear

suitable respiratory protective equipment (eg air-fed hood)

and protective clothing (eg PVC single-use gloves with long

gauntlets and, in addition, dust-proof cotton overalls

sealed at the arms, legs and neck).

Storage: No special precautions.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Drums, no other details given.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery is not economically possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The substance can be rapidly destroyed by strong oxidising

or reducing agents. Sodium metabisulfite is the recommended

neutralising agent.

(A634)

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Discharge to water is not recommended. Disposal at an

authorised site is possible. (A650)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method. A temperature above 950 deg C should be

used together with waste gas treatment to remove nitrogen

and sulfur oxides. (A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery is not possible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable at the concentrations envisaged.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: Paints and adhesives containing the substance may be

disposed of as domestic waste.
