First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove person from exposure. If the victim is not
breathing, perform mouth to mouth resuscitation. Oxygen may
be administered if breathing is difficult. Show copy of
safety data sheet or label to medical staff. Seek immediate
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Hold eyelids apart and irrigate affected eye(s) with copious
amounts of water, for at least 15 minutes. Seek immediate
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected area with
copious amounts of water and a mild soap for at least 15
minutes. If irritation persists seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: If ingested, seek medical advice immediately and show the
container or the label. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water.
Induction of vomiting should be considered for significant
ingestions if person is conscious and not experiencing
convulsions. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious
person.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water or foam may be used

Product arising from burning: Products arising from pyrolysis: Carbon oxides and water
together with some soot.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: As a minimum wear approved full face respirator, chemical
safety goggles, rubber boots when cleaning a spill. Absorb
spill with inert, non-combustible absorbent e.g. sand,
vermiculate and place into a closed container for
reclamation or disposal using non-sparking tools. Shut off
all sources of ignition, no flares, smoking or flames in
spill area. After material pick-up is complete, wash spill
area and flush to process sewer if allowable under national,
state or local permits or regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: Engineering controls in the form of local ventilation are
provided at the reactor. When this is not sufficient,
approved respiratory protection to EN136 standard should be
worn. For manufacturing areas skin protection should be
provided in the form of coveralls or full air suits
(conforming to standard EN374). Gloves should be changed
regularly and removed after overt contamination. Rubber,
neoprene or other gloves may be required if solvents,
corrosives or other chemicals are present. Chemical safety
glasses should be worn if a full face respirator is not
being worn.

Storage: The substance is stored in a cool, dark, dry place away form
heat and oxidising agents. Containers must be correctly
labelled and kept tightly closed when not in use.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Standard packaging for the test substance is 170 kg net, UN
approved, poly lined metal drums. The dimensions are 890mm
H x 560mm D.

waste water treatment plants (Method: A641)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration is recommended. A closed-cycle incinerator
with scrubbers should be employed. National and local
regulations must be observed (Method: A663)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Biological oxidation occurs at waste water treatment plants.
Trace quantities in aqueous washes can be treated in
secondary biological WWTP before discharge to municipal
treatment works. The substance should not normally be
discharged directly to the sewage system or the aqueous
environment.
