Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Ensure that the First Aid Personnel are aware of the product involved, and take precautions to protect themselves (e.g. wear personal protection equipment). Remove affected person from danger area, lay him down.

If inhaled: If breathed in, move person into fresh air. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration.

In case of skin contact: Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water. Take off all contaminated clothing immediately.

In case of eye contact: In case of contact with the eyes rinse thoroughly with plenty of water or with an eye-cleaning solution.

Protect unharmed eye.

If swallowed       : If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately and show this container or label. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water.

Fire-fighting measures

The substance itself is not combustable. If dust is raised, a risk of dust explosion must be considered.

Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray jet

Unsuitable extinguishing media: High volume water jet, intert gas under high pressure.

Standard procedure for chemical fires. Adjust fire fighting measures to the surrounding. Please observe escape and rescue routes!

Specific hazards during fire-fighting: Under the conditions of a fire, hazardous combustion gases can be formed formed: Carbon monoxide (CO)

Carbon dioxide (CO2), Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Hydrogen fluoride. Under certain conditions of combustion traces of other toxic substances

cannot be excluded.

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Do not inhale explosion and/or combustion gases. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Accidental release measures

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Use personal protective clothing.

Remove persons to safety. The danger areas must be delimited and identified using relevant warning and safety signs.

Do not allow entry to drains, water courses or soil. Contain contaminated water/firefighting water.

Methods for cleaning up: Contain spillage, pick up with an electrically protected vacuum cleaner or by wet-brushing and transfer to a container for disposal according to local regulations. Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly, observing environmental regulations

Containers in which spilt substance has been collected must be adequately labelled.

Handling and storage

Provide good ventilation of working area. Avoid the formation and deposition of dust.

Provide exhaust ventilation if dust is formed. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Ensure that eye flushing systems and safety showers are located close to the working place.

Dust can form an explosive mixture with air. Keep away from sources of ignition - refrain from smoking. Take precautionary measures

against build-up of electrostatic charges, e.g  earthing during loading and off-loading operations. Observe the general rules of industrial

fire protection.

Hygiene measures: Do not eat, drink or smoke during work time. Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately and clean thoroughly before using again.

Garments that cannot be cleaned must be destroyed (burnt). Keep away from food and drink. Clean hands and face during work intervals and after work

Avoid contact of the substance. Follow the skin protection plan.

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep away from heat.

Do not store or transport together with foodstuffs.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Eye protection: Depending on the risk, wear sufficient eye protection (safety glasses with side protection or goggles, and if necessary, face  shield.)

Hand protection: Choose gloves to protect hands against chemicals depending on the concentration and quantity of the hazardous substance and specific to place of work. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it. The suitability for a specific workplace should be discussed with the producers of the protective gloves.

Suitable: Nitrile rubber gloves. Butyl rubber gloves. With solid dry substances permeation is not to be expected, therefore the breakthrough-time for this protective glove has not been measured.

Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough.

Gloves must be rinsed thoroughly after use.

Skin and body protection: Choose body protection in relation to its type, to the concentration and amount of dangerous substances, and to the specific workplace, e.g. apron, boots, protective suit (EN 14605, EN ISO 13982-1, EN 13034).

Respiratory protection: In the case of respirable dust, use respiratory protection complying with EN 143.

Protective measures

:       Do not inhale dust

Avoid contact with eyes and skin

Stability and reactivity

No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use. Stable under normal conditions.

Risk of dust explosions.

Conditions to avoid: Extremes of temperature and direct sunlight. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Avoid formation of dust.

Materials to avoid: alkalines

Hazardous decomposition products: In case of fire or extreme temperatur the formation of hazardous decomposition products can not be excluded.

Hydrogen fluoride, Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and unburned hydrocarbons (smoke).

Boron compounds, Phosphorus compounds

Disposal considerations

Special waste incineration plant, after consultation with operators and in accordance with local and national regulations.

Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as product waste.
