Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The vapour pressure of the test item was measured acc. to OECD 104. In addition to that the vapour pressures of the C-chain pure substances C20- and C22-trimethylammonium chloride were calculated from the molecular structure with commercially available software.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
0 Pa
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

In a well conducted non-glp guideline study the vapour pressure was determined. The results are presented in the table below.

The vapour pressure was extrapolated :

T in °C

p in hPa

p in Pa

20

7.0× 10-7

7.0× 10-5

25

9.9× 10-7

9.9× 10-5

50

4.8× 10-6

4.8× 10-4

These findings are in good agreement with the results achieved by calculation. The vapour pressures for the C-chain pure materials with C20 and C22 at 20°C < 0.001 Pa.

Thus, for regulatory purposes the vapour pressure of < 0.001 Pa can be used as a default value
