Description of key information

Degradation of the test substance was evaluated using two sets of models.  The first set (i.e., Biowin 5 and 6) was used to estimate the potential for the test substance to biodegrade under aerobic conditions in a sewage treatment facility.  The second set (i.e., Biowin 1 and 2) was used to estimate the test substance's potential to biodegrade under aerobic conditions, but not for a particular medium.  Both sets of models predicted that the test substance would have a biodegradation half life under aerobic conditions of weeks to months.

Additional information

In a weight-of-evidence approach based on information from biodegradation in aqueous media, DETDA is not expected to biodegrade in soil. This assumption is supported by Biowin 5 and Biowin 6 model estimations: DETDA would not readily biodegrade in the Japanese MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry) ready biodegradation test (i.e., OECD 301C). Biowin 1 and Biowin 2 models predicted that DETDA will not undergo rapid biodegradation under aerobic conditions.
