Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
oxidising solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
23 March 2016 to 28 July 2017
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.17 (Oxidising Properties (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
- Purity: This substance has an Unknown or Variable composition, is a Complex reaction product, or a Biological material (UVCB).
- Description: Yellow powder
- Storage: Room temperature in the dark
Contact with:
powdered cellulose
Duration of test (contact time):
60 min
Key result
Sample tested:
test mixture as specified
Parameter:
burning time of reaction over a distance of 200 mm
Remarks on result:
mixture does not ignite and burn

The test item mixtures either did not propagate combustion or only smouldered across the 200 mm in a time in excess of 60 minutes. The testing was therefore stopped as it was clear that the test item did not have oxidizing properties.

Conclusions:
Under the conditions of the study, the test item has been determined not to have oxidizing properties as the test item/cellulose mixtures failed to propagate combustion at a rate greater than or equal to that of the barium nitrate/cellulose mixtures.
Executive summary:

Under the conditions of the study, the test item has been determined to be non-oxidising, as the test item/cellulose mixtures failed to propagate combustion at a rate greater than or equal to that of the barium nitrate/cellulose mixtures.using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.17 Oxidising Properties (Solids) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.
