First-aid measures

General advice: First Aid responders should pay attention to self-protection and use the recommended protective clothing. Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Move out of dangerous area. Keep warm and in a quiet place.

If inhaled: Provide fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Keep the victim calm and in a semi-upright position. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

In case of skin contact: Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician immediately.

In case of eye contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician immediately.

If swallowed: Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Do NOT induce vomiting.

Call a physician immediately.

Risks: If swallowed, severe burns in the oral cavity and throat as well as danger of perforation of the digestive tract and stomach.

Treatment: Treat symptomatically. For specialist advice physicians should contact the Poisons Information Service.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: The product itself does not burn. Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local cir-cumstances and the surrounding environment.

Specific hazards during fire-fighting: May form toxic gases on heating or in case of fire.

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus.

Further information: Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Ensure adequate ventilation. Wear personal protective equipment. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not breathe dust. Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak. Knock down dust with water spray jet.

Environmental precautions: Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Avoid subsoil penetration.

Methods for cleaning up: Use mechanical handling equipment. Avoid dust formation. Pick up and transfer to properly labelled containers. Adequate disposal.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Advice on safe handling: Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms. Wear personal protective equipment. Avoid dust formation. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Normal measures for preventive fire protection.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Protect from moisture.

Further information on storage conditions: Product is hygroscopic.

Advice on common storage: Do not store near acids.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering measures

Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms.

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection: In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. Recommended Filter type: Half mask with a particle filter P2 (EN 143).

Hand protection: Glove material: Protective gloves complying with EN 374. Wear suitable gloves. The choice of an appropriate glove does not only depend on its material but also on other quality features and is different from one producer to the other. The exact break through time can be obtained from the protective glove producer and this has to be observed. Protective gloves have to be replaced at the first sign of deterioration.

Eye protection: Eye protection (EN 166). Tightly fitting safety goggles

Skin and body protection: Chemical resistant protective clothing according to DIN EN 13034 (Type 6)

Hygiene measures: Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes. Do not breathe dust or spray mist. Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

Protective measures: Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped with an eyewash facility and safety shower. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Environmental exposure controls

General advice: Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Avoid subsoil penetration.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

Potential for exothermic hazard

Chemical stability

No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

Hazardous reactions: Exothermic reaction with strong acids.

Conditions to avoid

Conditions to avoid: Protect from moisture. Product is hygroscopic.

Incompatible materials

Materials to avoid: Carbon dioxide (CO2), Acids

Hazardous decomposition products

Risk of decomposition: Combustion may cause: Dicesium oxide

Thermal decomposition: To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Product: Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.

Contaminated packaging: Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.
