Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
biodegradation in water: sediment simulation testing
Data waiving:
exposure considerations
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because direct and indirect exposure of sediment is unlikely

Description of key information

According to Annex IX section 9.2.1.4 of Regulation No. 1907/2006 “Further biotic degradation testing shall be proposed by the registrant if the chemical safety assessment according to Annex I indicated the need to investigate further the degradation of the substance and its degradation products”. The test substance entering the water is not likely to sorb onto suspended solids and sediment based upon the estimated Koc of 30.71 L/kg (based on log Kow, using the EIPSUITE-software). Furthermore, the soil adsorption/desorption properties of the test substance were studied following OECD Test Guideline No. 106 (batch equilibrium method) Koc mean value for soil I is 58.8. Therefore, direct and indirect exposure of sediment is unlikely. No further testing for this endpoint is proposed.
