Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

After evaporation or exposure to the air, the product will be slowly degraded by photochemical processes with OH-radicals.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in air:
2 d

Additional information

Based on the calculation according to SRC AOP v1.92, 2-ethylhexanoic acid is indirectly photodegraded by reaction with hydroxyl radicals in the atmosphere with a half-life (t1/2) of about 47.1 hours taking into account a 24-h day and a mean OH radical concentration of 5.0E+05 molecules per cm³ (BASF 2008).
