Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Phosphonate salts are highly water soluble and some are formulated as aqueous. Solutions containing up to 70 % active material. Free acids are less soluble than the salts; however, aqueous solutions in excess of l % active material can be prepared.

An infinite water solubility value was reported in the handbook which represents the water solubility is greater than >1 *10E+6 (the substance is miscible in water).

Conclusions:
The test substance was reported as miscible in water in a handbook which has been subject to peer-review and in which the original data sources are traceable. The result is considered to be reliable.

Description of key information

The substance is very soluble in water and has a water solubility value of 500 g/l at ambient conditions as described in a secondary source.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
500 g/L
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The test substance is reported as miscible in water in a handbook (Gledhill 1992) which has been subject to peer-review and in which the original data sources are traceable. The result is considered to be reliable. Many commercial solutions at approx. 500 g/L are reported in company literature.

The original references were not available for review and no further information is available. The reliability of those results is not assignable.

Phosphonate salts are highly hydrophilic and extremely water soluble. Free acids are less soluble than the salts; however, aqueous solutions in excess of 1% active acid material can be prepared.
