First-aid measures

General advice:

Take off immediately all contaminated clothing.

Inhalation:

Move to fresh air. Oxygen or artificial respiration if needed. In case of persistent problems : Consult a physician.

Dust inhalation: Blow nose.

Skin contact:

Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water.

Eye contact:

Dusts : Wash well-open eyes immediately, abundantly and thoroughly with water. Remove particles remaining under the eyelids. If irritation

persists, consult an ophthalmologist.

Ingestion:

Do NOT induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Consult a physician.

Protection of first-aiders:

Protective suit. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment.

Indication of immediate medical attention and special treatment needed, if necessary

Treatment: Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: Carbon dioxide (CO2), Foam, Dry chemical

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

Dust may form explosive mixture in air.

Thermal decomposition giving flammable and toxic products : Carbon monoxide, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Hazardous organic compounds.

Advice for firefighters:

Special protective actions for fire-fighters:

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Wear personal protective equipment. See chapter : 8. Exposure controls/personal protection Evacuate non-essential staff and those not equipped with individual protection apparatus. Prohibit all sources of sparks and ignition - Do not smoke. Avoid dust formation. Avoid contact

with skin and eyes and inhalation of dust. In the case of respirable dust, use self-contained breathing apparatus. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment.

Environmental precautions:

Do not release into the environment. Do not flush into surface water. Do not let product enter drains.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:

Methods for cleaning up:

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Dust deposits should not be allowed to accumulate on surfaces, as these may form an explosive mixture if they are released into the atmosphere in sufficient concentration. Ventilate the area.

Recovery:

Wet down (dampen) the spilled material with water. Sweep or scoop up using non-sparking tools and place into suitable properly labeled containers for prompt disposal.

Elimination:

Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Technical measures/Precautions:

Storage and handling precautions applicable to products: Solid. Dust forming. Forming EXPLOSIVE mixtures with air. Toxic. Dangerous for the environment.

Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at machinery. Provide self-contained breathing apparatus nearby. Provide showers, eye-baths. Provide electrical earthing of equipment.

Safe handling advice:

Avoid exposure - obtain special instructions before use. Take maximum precautions when handling. Strictly limit the quantities of product in the work area to those which are absolutely necessary for the work in hand. Avoid dust formation. In case of dust formation, wear a dust

mask. Avoid accumulation of static charges during transfers in metallic systems. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Do not smoke.

Hygiene measures:

When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Prohibit contact with skin and eyes and inhalation of dust (or vapours). Wash hands after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Store in original container. Keep in a dry, cool place. Protect from light. Store in well ventilated area away from heat and sources of ignition such as flame, sparks and static electricity. Take measures to prevent the build up of electrostatic charge. Provide electrical earthing of

equipment and electrical equipment usable in explosive atmospheres. Ensure all equipment is electrically grounded before beginning transfer operations.

Incompatible products:

Strong oxidizing agents, Strong reducing agents, Strong acids, Strong bases.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls:

General protective measures: Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at machinery and at places where dust can be generated. Ensure ventilation of work areas and extraction of dust or vapours likely to be given off during conversion operations (product handled when hot).

Personal protective equipment:

Respiratory protection:

Wear suitable respiratory equipment. Recommended Filter type: P3

Consult respirator manufacturer to determine appropriate type equipment for a given application.

Hand protection:

Protective gloves complying with EN 374.

Glove thickness: > 0,4 mm

Nitrile rubber

Consult glove manufacturer to determine appropriate type glove material for given application.

The choice of an appropriate glove does not only depend on its material but also on other quality

features and is different from one producer to the other.

Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical

breakthrough.

Eye/face protection:

Where eye contact may be likely, wear chemical goggles and have eye flushing equipment available. Safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN166.

Skin and body protection:

Protective suit, Antistatic boots.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability:

The product is stable under normal handling and storage conditions.

Possibility of hazardous reactions:

Hazardous polymerisation does not occur.

Dust may form explosive mixture in air.

Conditions to avoid:

Protect from heat. Avoid direct sunlight.

Sparks, flames, ignition points and static electricity.

Incompatible materials to avoid:

Strong reducing agents, Strong oxidizing agents, Strong acids and strong bases.

Hazardous decomposition products:

Thermal decomposition giving flammable and toxic products :

Carbon monoxide, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Hazardous organic compounds.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment:

Disposal of product:

Do not release into the environment. Disposal via incineration is recommended. Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.

Disposal of packaging:

Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal.

Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.
