Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
self-heating substances / mixtures
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water

Description of key information

The substance is not considered as flammable, flammable in contact with water, pyrophoric, and self-heating substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Flammability:

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the flammability study does not need to be conducted as the substance is a liquid and the flammability is deduced from flash point and boiling point. Based on the determined boiling point of 166 °C and a flash point of 125 °C the test substance has not to be classified as a flammable liquid according to to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP).

Self-heating temperature:

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the UN test N 4 for self-heating substances and mixtures do not need to be conducted as the substance is a liquid.

Pyrophoric properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.

Emission of flammable gases upon contact with water:

The study does not need to be conducted because the experience in handling and use shows that the substance does not react with water.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008:
In accordance with Annex I, Section 2.1, Section 2.2, Section 2.3, Section 2.7, Section 2.9, Section 2.10 Section 2.11, Section 2.12 of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and UN GHS Rev 6 (2015) the substance has not to be classified as readily combustible solid in class 4 Division 4.1, self-heating substance in Class 4 Division 4.2, substances which in contact with water emit flammable gases in Class 4 Division 4.3, pyrophoric liquid, pyrophoric solid in class 4 Division 4.2, flammable gases in class 2 or as aerosol in class 2.
