Conclusions:
Interpretation of results (migrated information): moderately soluble (100-1000 mg/L)
Solubility was based on measurement of dissolved Ni. For pure Ni-EHA, solubility in water was 110 mg/l. The presence of Ni-Acetate in sample OCTNI Base caused a higher figure for total water solubility, probably because all Ni-Acetate had dissolved in the super-saturated solution of 1 g/L. Hence, the contribution of Ni-Acetate to the total dissolved nickel was a magnitude higher than based on the original composition of the sample.

Description of key information

Water solubility based on dissolved Nickel was 110 mg/L for the pure substance without impurities, and 357 mg/L for a typical sample with 6% of Nickel acetate present.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
110 mg/L
at the temperature of:
30 °C

Additional information

Water solubility of samples from pure Nickel 2-ethylhexanoate was used as the key value for 100% Nickel 2-ethylhexanoate and 0% Nickel acetate, and was determined in a GLP study following the OECD guideline no 105. The presence of Nickel acetate in sample caused a higher figure for total water solubility, probably because all Nickel acetate had dissolved in the super-saturated solution of 1 g/L. As solubility was based on measurement of dissolved Ni, contribution of Nickel acetate to dissolved nickel was a magnitude higher than based on the original composition of the sample.
