First-aid measures

4.1. Description of first aid measures
First aid personnel should pay attention to their own safety. If the patient is likely to become unconscious, place and transport in stable sideways position (recovery position). Immediately remove contaminated clothing.

If inhaled:
Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention.

On skin contact:
Immediately wash thoroughly with soap and water, seek medical attention.

On contact with eyes:
Wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open.

On ingestion:
Rinse mouth immediately and then drink plenty of water, induce vomiting, seek medical attention.

4.2. Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
Symptoms: The most important known symptoms and effects are described in the labelling (see section 2) and/or in section 11., Further symptoms are possible

4.3. Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Treatment: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote.

Fire-fighting measures

5.1. Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media:
dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide, water spray

5.2. Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
cyanides, gases/vapours, nitrogen oxides, carbon oxides
The substances/groups of substances mentioned can be released in case of fire.

5.3. Advice for fire-fighters
Special protective equipment:
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.

Further information:
Dispose of fire debris and contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with official regulations.

Accidental release measures

Substance/product can form explosive mixture with air. An explosive atmosphere can be formed in the case of a spillage. Observe information given in section 7.

6.1. Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Breathing protection is mandatory. Wear suitable protective clothing. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Avoid all sources of ignition: heat, sparks, open flame.

6.2. Environmental precautions
Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater.

6.3. Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
For large amounts: Pump off product.
For residues: Pick up with absorbent material (e.g. sand, sawdust, general-purpose binder).
Cleaning operations should be carried out only while wearing breathing apparatus. Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly with water and detergents, observing environmental regulations. Collect waste in suitable containers, which can be labeled and sealed. Incinerate or take to a special waste disposal site in accordance with local authority regulations.

6.4. Reference to other sections
Information regarding exposure controls/personal protection and disposal considerations can be found in section 8 and 13.

Handling and storage

7.1. Precautions for safe handling
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Ensure thorough ventilation of stores and work areas. Product should be worked up in closed equipment as far as possible. Refill and handle product only in closed system. Use solvent-resistant equipment. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Hands and/or face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift.

Protection against fire and explosion:
Vapours may form explosive mixture with air. Prevent electrostatic charge - sources of ignition should be kept well clear - fire extinguishers should be kept handy.

7.2. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Segregate from acids. Segregate from strong oxidizing agents. Segregate from foods and animal feeds. Segregate from flammable solids. Segregate from self-heating substances. Do not store together with substances which may explode.

Suitable materials for containers: Stainless steel 1.4301 (V2), Stainless steel 1.4401
Further information on storage conditions: Avoid all sources of ignition: heat, sparks, open flame. Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place.

Storage class according to TRGS 510 (originally VCI, Germany): (3) Flammable liquids

Storage stability:
Storage temperature: 20 - 30 °C
Storage duration: 24 Months
From the data on storage duration in this safety data sheet no agreed statement regarding the warrantee of application properties can be deduced.

7.3. Specific end use(s)
For the relevant identified use(s) listed in Section 1 the advice mentioned in this section 7 is to be observed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

.1. Control parameters

Components with occupational exposure limits

The surveillance of the workplace by exposure measurements may be necessary, in order to proof the efficiency of safety measures, for example ventilation or the need of respiratory protection. Since this requires a specific competency, only accredited laboratories should be contracted. Regarding suitable methods for inhalative exposure assessment the European Standards EN 482, 689 and 14042 are to be considered. In addition the TRGS 402 has to be observed in Germany.

109-89-7: diethylamine
STEL value 30 mg/m3 ; 10 ppm (OEL (EU))
indicative
TWA value 15 mg/m3 ; 5 ppm (OEL (EU))
indicative
OEL 15 mg/m3 ; 5 ppm (TRGS 900 (DE))
Ceiling limit value/factor: =2=
The reaction with nitrosifying agents can lead to the formation of the respective carcinogenic N-Nitrosamines.
Short Term Exposure Classification: (TRGS 900 (DE))
Category I: Substances for which the localized effect has an assigned exposure limit or for substances with a sensitizing effect in respiratory passages
Skin Designation (TRGS 900 (DE))
The substance can be absorbed through the skin.

8.2. Exposure controls
Personal protective equipment
Respiratory protection:
Respiratory protection in case of vapour/aerosol release. Self-contained breathing apparatus.

Hand protection:
Chemical resistant protective gloves (EN 374)
Suitable materials also with prolonged, direct contact (Recommended: Protective index 6, corresponding > 480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374):
butyl rubber (butyl) - 0.7 mm coating thickness
fluoroelastomer (FKM) - 0.7 mm coating thickness
Suitable materials for short-term contact (recommended: At least protective index 2, corresponding > 30 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374)
nitrile rubber (NBR) - 0.4 mm coating thickness
chloroprene rubber (CR) - 0.5 mm coating thickness
Manufacturer's directions for use should be observed because of great diversity of types.

Supplementary note: The specifications are based on tests, literature data and information of glove manufacturers or are derived from similar substances by analogy. Due to many conditions (e.g. temperature) it must be considered, that the practical usage of a chemical-protective glove in practice may be much shorter than the permeation time determined through testing.

Eye protection:
Safety glasses with side-shields (frame goggles) (e.g. EN 166)

Body protection:
full protection suit with breathing-air supply (f.e. according to EN 943)

General safety and hygiene measures
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. The substance was registered as an on-site isolated intermediate. The manufacturer confirms that the substances is manufactured and used under strictly controlled conditions and registration is in accordance with art. 17 of the REACH regulation (EC) No 1907/2006. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Store work clothing separately.

Stability and reactivity

10.1. Reactivity

Formation of flammable gases: Remarks: Forms no flammable gases in the presence of water.

10.2. Chemical stability
The product is chemically stable.

10.3. Possibility of hazardous reactions
Vapours may form explosive mixture with air.

10.4. Conditions to avoid
