First-aid measures

First-aid measures after inhalation :

Remove to fresh air, keep the patient warm and at rest. If breathing is difficult, trained personnel

should give oxygen. If symptoms persist, obtain medical attention.

First-aid measures after skin contact :

Immediately remove contaminated clothing or footwear. Rinse skin with plenty of water or

shower. If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention.

First-aid measures after eye contact :

In case of eye contact, immediately rinse with clean water for 10-15 minutes. Remove contact

lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Retract eyelids often. Obtain immediate

medical attention.

First-aid measures after ingestion :

Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth. Give 100 - 200 ml of water to drink. Do not give an

unconscious person anything to drink. Obtain immediate medical attention

Fire-fighting measures

uitable extinguishing media : Water spray. Dry powder. Foam. Carbon dioxide.

Unsuitable extinguishing media : None known.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Fire hazard : Not flammable. Thermal decomposition can lead to release of irritating and toxic gases and vapors.

Hazardous decomposition products in case of fire:

Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Hydrogen chloride. Chloracetone, Chloromethane, Chlorinated hydrocarbons.

Advice for firefighters :

Firefighting instructions : Use water spray or fog for cooling exposed containers. Exercise caution when fighting any

chemical fire. Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses. Fire

residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Protection during firefighting : Fire fighters should wear complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

For non-emergency personnel: Evacuate unnecessary personnel. Ensure adequate ventilation.

For emergency responders: Wear suitable protective clothing and eye or face protection.Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid inhalation of vapours. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Environmental precautions : Avoid release to the environment. Prevent entry to sewers and public waters. Notify authorities if liquid enters sewers or public waters.

Methods for cleaning up : Absorb with earth, sand or other non-combustible material and transfer to containers for later disposal. Dike far ahead of liquid spill for later disposal

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling : Product only to be handled by trained personnel. Avoid inhalation of vapours. Avoid contact with

skin, eyes and clothing. Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye or face protection.

Hygiene measures : Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Handle in accordance with good industrial

hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands and other exposed areas with mild soap and water before eating, drinking or

smoking and when leaving work. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace.

Storage conditions : Store in original container. Store tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. In order to

ensure safe transportation, make certain that stacks are of the correct height, containers are

securely fastened so as not to fall off, and labelled according to the regulations.

Incompatible materials : Alkalis.

Storage temperature : 15 - 50 °C

Suitable: Packaging materials : Polyethylene. Polypropylene. Polyvinylchloride (PVC).

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls : Handle and transfer product in closed systems only (gas displacement device). Leak detection

recommended. Minimise emissions by means of suitable technical measures such as flanges

and valves with low leakage rates, recirculation of vapours. May be discharged to wastewater

treatment installation.

Personal protective equipment : Avoid all unnecessary exposure.

Hand protection : Protective gloves. Standard EN 374 - Protective gloves against chemicals. Gloves should be

removed and replaced if there are any signs of degradation or breakthrough. Natural rubber:

Material thickness: 0.5 mm, Breakthrough time : > 480 minutes (DIN EN 374). Nitrile

rubber/chloroprene rubber; Material thickness: 0.65mm.

Eye protection : Chemical goggles or face shield. Standard EN 166 - Personal eye-protection.

Skin and body protection : Wear chemical resistant overall. Immediately change moistened and saturated work clothes.

Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.

Respiratory protection : In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. Type A filter (brown) for

organic gases and vapours, boiling point above 65°C. Standard EN 14387 - Gas filter(s), combined filter(s) and full face mask - EN 136.

Stability and reactivity

Stable under normal conditions.

Incompatible materials: Alkalis

Hazardous decomposition products: Hydrogen chloride. Chloracetone. Chloromethane. Chlorinated hydrocarbonsFire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Hydrogen chloride. Chloracetone. Chloromethane. Chlorinated hydrocarbons

Disposal considerations
