Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Instruction for eye contact:

Flush with large amounts of water. Remove contact lenses if easy to do. Continue rinsing. If signs/symptoms persist, get

medical attention.

Instruction for skin contact:

Wash with soap and water. If signs/symptoms develop, get medical attention.

Instructions for inhalation:

Remove person to fresh air. If you feel unwell, get medical attention.

Instructions for ingestion:

Rinse mouth. If you feel unwell, get medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media :

Use a fire fighting agent suitable for flammable liquids or gases such as dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture :

Exposure to extreme heat can give rise to thermal decomposition.

Hazardous Decomposition or By-Products during combustion :

Carbon monoxide

Carbon dioxide

Hydrogen Fluoride

Oxides of sulphur

Toxic vapour, gas, particulate

Fire fighting procedures :

When fire fighting conditions are severe and total thermal decomposition of the product is possible, wear full protective

clothing, including helmet, self-contained, positive pressure or pressure demand breathing apparatus, tunic and trousers

(leggings),bands around arms, waist and legs, face mask, and protective covering for exposed areas of the head.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures :

Ventilate the area with fresh air.

Environmental precautions :

Avoid release to the environment. For larger spills, cover drains and build dykes to prevent entry into sewer systems or

bodies of water.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up :

Contain spill. Working from around the edges of the spill inward, cover with bentonite, vermiculite, or commercially

available inorganic absorbent material. Mix in sufficient absorbent until it appears dry. Remember, adding an absorbent

material does not remove a toxic, corrosivity or flammability hazard. Collect as much of the spilled material as possible.

Clean up residue with an appropriate solvent selected by a qualified and authorised person. Ventilate the area with fresh air.

Read and follow safety precautions on the solvent label and Safety Data Sheet. Place in a closed container approved for

transportation by appropriate authorities. Seal the container. Dispose of collected material as soon as possible.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

For industrial or professional use only. Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on

clothing. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Wash thoroughly after handling.

Conditions for safe storage including any incompatibilities:

Store away from strong bases.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering controls:

For those situations where the material might be exposed to extreme overheating due to misuse or equipment failure, use with

appropriate local exhaust ventilation (90 % effective) sufficient to maintain levels of thermal decomposition products below their exposure

guidelines. Use general dilution ventilation and/or local exhaust ventilation to control airborne exposures to below relevant

Exposure Limits and/or control dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray. If ventilation is not adequate, use respiratory protection

equipment.

Personal protective equipment (PPE):

Eye/face protection :Wear eye/face protection.

The following eye protection(s) are recommended: Safety glasses with side shields.

Skin/hand protection:Wear protective gloves.

Gloves made from the following material(s) are recommended: Neoprene.Nitrile rubber.Polymer laminate

Respiratory protection:

Select one of the following approved respirators based on airborne concentration of contaminants and in accordance with

regulations:

Half facepiece or fullface air-purifying respirator with organic vapour cartridges and P2 particulate prefilters.

Half facepiece or fullface supplied-air respirator (97.5 % effective)
