First-aid measures

General notes: TOXIC IF INHALED, SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY.
Eye contact
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Check for and remove any contact lenses if present and easy to do so. Continue to rinse for at least 10 minutes. If irritation occurs persists: get medical attention and show container/label or SDS.

Inhalation
Get medical attention immediately. Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a comfortable position for breathing. If person is not breathing provide artificial respiration and oxygen by trained personnel. It may be dangerous to the person providing aid to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. If breathing is irregular or if respiratory arrest occurs, provide artificial respiration or oxygen by trained personnel (It may be dangerous to the person providing aid to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation).
If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately and show container/label or SDS.
Maintain an open airway. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband.
In case of inhalation of decomposition products in a fire, symptoms may be delayed.
The exposed person may need to be kept under medical surveillance for 48 hours.

Skin contact
Gently and thoroughly wash the contaminated skin with plenty of water. Wash contaminated clothing thoroughly with water before removing it or wear gloves. Wash clothing and shoes before re-use. If irritation persists seek medical attention and show container/label or SDS.

Ingestion
Get medical attention immediately and show container/label or SDS.
Rinse out mouth with water. Remove dentures if any. Move victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. If material has been swallowed and the exposed person is conscious, give small quantities of water to drink. Stop if the exposed person feels sick as vomiting may be dangerous. Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. If vomiting occurs, keep the head low so that vomit does not enter the lungs. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If unconscious, place in recovery position, maintain and open airway (loosen tight clothing such as collar, tie, belt or waist band and get medical attention immediately. Maintain an open airway.

Protection of First aiders
If dust is still present the rescuer should wear an appropriate mask or self contained breathing apparatus. No action should be taken involving personal risk or without suitable training.
It may be dangerous to give mouth to mouth resuscitation.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions for non-emergency personnel
No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training and suitable protective clothing and equipment.
Evacuate the area immediately. Mark out the contaminated area and prevent unnecessary and unprotected personnel from entering. Do not touch or walk through spilled material. Shut off all ignition sources. Do not create dust.
No flares, smoking or flames in the contaminated area. Do not breathe dust. Provide adequate ventilation. Wear appropriate respirator when ventilation is inadequate. Put on appropriate personal protective equipment.

Personal precautions for emergency responders
If specialised clothing is required to deal with the spillage, take note of any information in Section 8 on suitable and unsuitable materials. See also Section 8 for additional information on hygiene measures.

Environmental precautions
Do not allow discharge of spilled material and runoff into soil, waterways, drains and sewers. Inform the relevant authorities if the product has caused environmental pollution (sewers, waterways, soil or air). Potential to be harmful to the environment if released in large quantities.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
Small spill: Using appropriate protective equipment move containers from spill area. Use spark-proof tools and explosion-proof equipment. Avoid dust generation. Do not dry sweep. Vacuum dust with equipment fitted with a HEPA filter and place in a closed, labelled waste container. Dispose of waste using a licensed waste disposal contractor. Can be mixed with an inert material to aid collection and dust creation.
Large spill: Using appropriate protective equipment and approaching from upwind move containers from spill area. Avoid creating dust and prevent wind dispersal. Do not dry sweep. Vacuum dust with equipment filled with HEPA filter and place in a closed, labelled waste container. Dispose of waste using a licensed waste disposal contractor. Prevent waste from entering sewers, water courses, soil, basements or confined areas. Can be mixed with an inert material to aid collection and limit dust creation.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling
Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Do not get in eyes or on skin or clothing. Do not breathe dust. Do not ingest. Avoid release to the environment. Avoid the creation of dust when handling and avoid all possible sources of ignition (spark or flame).

Prevent dust accumulation. Use only with adequate ventilation and ensure that there is exhaust ventilation in the area – do not handle in a confined space. Wear appropriate respirator when ventilation is inadequate. Keep in the original container or an approved alternative made from a compatible material, keet tightly closed when not in use. Electrical equipment and lighting should be protected to appropriate standards to prevent dust coming into contact with hot surfaces, sparks or other ignition sources. Take precautionary measures against electrostatic discharges. To avoid fire or explosion, dissipate static electricity during transfer by grounding and bonding containers and equipment before transferring material. Keep away from acids. Empty containers retain product residue and can be hazardous. Do not reuse containers – dispose of with licensed waste disposal contractor.

Eating, drinking and smoking should be prohibited in areas where this material is handled, stored and processed. Workers should wash hands and face before eating, drinking and smoking. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Store in accordance with local regulations.
Store in a dry, cool, well ventilated area in the original container away from incompatible materials including food and drink. Keep container tightly closed and protect from direct sunlight.
Eliminate all ignition sources. Separate from acids. Separate from oxidizing materials. Keep
container tightly closed and sealed until ready for use. Containers that have been opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Do not store in unlabeled containers. Use appropriate containment to avoid environmental contamination.
