Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Study according to ISO guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
ISO 2719 (Determination of flash point - Pensky-Martens closed cup method)
Version / remarks:
2002
Type of method:
closed cup
Flash point:
97 °C
Atm. press.:
1 000.6 hPa

The pre-experiment gave a flash point of 95.5°C.

In the two determinations of the main study, flash points of 96.1 and 97.5 °C were measured. These values were corrected for the atmospheric pressure at the time of the measurement resulting in corrected values of 96.4 and 97.8 °C. The mean of these two values of 97.1 °C was rounded to 97 °C.

Conclusions:
The flash point of the test item at atmospheric pressure (1000.6 hPa) is 97 °C. Based on these data, the substance is not considered flammable.
Executive summary:

o-Chlorobenzaldehyde showed a flah point of 97 °C in a study conducted according to ISO guideline.

Description of key information

Flash point: 97 °C (1000.6 hPa)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
370.2 K

Additional information

The flash point was determined in a study conducted according to ISO guideline and is considered reliable without restrictions.
