Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

General advice:       Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately. If someone exposed to the product  feels unwell, contact a doctor and show this safety data sheet. Adhere to personal protective measures when giving first aid

If inhaled:              Remove the casualty into fresh air and keep him calm. Call in a physician immediately and show him the Safety Data Sheet.

In case of skin contact:       After contact with molten product cool quickly with cold water. Do not pull solidified product from skin. Start medical treatment immediately. Wash off immediately with poly-ethylene glycol 400, then with plenty of water.

If polyethylene glycol is not available, rinse of with plenty of water.

In case of eye contact:       Rinse immediately with gently running water for 15 minutes, maintaining eyelids open. Consult at once an ophthalmologist or a physician.

If swallowed       :       Do not induce vomiting. When swallowed seek medical aid immediately and show the physician the packaging or the label of the packaging. Let plenty of water be drunk in small gulps.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:       Dry powder, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Foam, water spray jet (limited)

Unsuitable extinguishing media:       water (product as melt)

Specific hazards during fire-fighting:       In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed: Carbon monoxide (CO), Hydrogen chloride (HCl)

Special protective equipment for firefighters:       Use self-contained breathing apparatus Wear flame-proof clothes, flame-proof gloves, and, if necessary, flame-proof hood as well as helmet and fire-brigade boots when fighting fire.

Further information:              Fire residues and contaminated firefighting water must be disposed of in accordance with the local regulations.

Accidental release measures

General precautions: In case of leakage avoid contact with the substance. Wear personal protection equipement. Shut off area, set up warning signs and keep unprotected people away.

Environmental precautions       : Do not allow entry to drains, water courses or soil

Methods for cleaning up:

In case of small leakage fIrst let substance cool down. Take up with suitable equipment and if necessary collect in closed containers. Clean contaminated floors and objects

thoroughly with water and detergents, observing environmental regulations. Containers in which spilt substance has been collected must be adequately labelled.

In case of major leakage:

If possible contain material and let cool down and take up the solid material as appropriate. The hot melt is to be taken up only by trained personnel (fire-brigade). Chemical protection suit and, if necessary, additional heat-protection gloves,

should be worn when handling the product. When picked up, treat material as hazardeous waste.

Handling and storage

Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with material. The substance should be handled in a closed system only. Substance transfer should preferably be done via pipes.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:

The product is combustible. Avoid heat, sparks and other sources of ignition. Observe general rules of industrial fire protection.

Hygiene measures:

Do not eat or drink at workplace. Keep away from foodstuffs and beverages. Wash hands before breaks and after work. Use barrier skin cream.

Requirements for storage areas and containers:

Keep only in the original container. Keep container tightly closed and dry. Do not store or transport together with foodstuffs.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Normally the product is dispatched hot. Take care - risk of scalding!

Do not inhale vapours. Avoid contact of molten material with skin.

Eye protection: Protection googles, Face shield

Hand protection

If substance contact can´t be excluded, wear appropriate gloves. When handling the hot melt of the substance use heat resistant gloves in combination with chemical resistant gloves.

For the cold, solid material Nitril rubber gloves are suitable. These types of protective gloves are offered by various manufacturers. Please note the manufacturers´ detailed statements, especially

about the minimum thickness and the minimum breakthrough time. Consider also the particular working conditions under which the gloves are being used.

With solid dry substances permeation is not to be expected, therefore the breakthrough-time for this protective glove has not been measured.

Respiratory protection:

Normally not required, when the substance is handled under the strictly controlled conditions. If exposure to fumes or dust can´t be excluded, use respiratory protection. For the hot melt use

ABEK-Filter against organic fumes. For the cold, solid substance protection is only required when handled as powder (Filter P2). Note, that respiratory protection is only a short term measure

and should not substitute technical solutions.

Stability and reactivity

No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use.

No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Hazardous reactions: When handled and stored appropriately no dangerous reactions are known

Conditions to avoid: Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.

Hazardous decomposition products: In case of fire and/or thermal decomposition hydrogen chloride (HCl) may be formed.

Disposal considerations

Product:       Special waste incineration plant, after consultation with operators. Observe local regulations and apply for permission by the authorities.

Contaminated packaging:       Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as product waste
