Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Long-term exposure (21 days) of daphnids to peracetic acid was tested according to GLP and OECD guideline 211 (Wetton, 2000). The semi-static test regime used to guarantee that the test concentrations were set back to nominal 3 times a week. Thereby the test method used to analyse peracetic acid concentrations was not able to verify the nominal concentrations, whereas the degradation of peracetic acid measured in pre-study test samples (i.e. recovery 8-33% after 48 h and 2-66% after 72 h) reflects the rapid decomposition of peracetic acid. Although it was recognized that the obtained values do not represent the intrinsic toxicity of peracetic acid to daphnids, the NOEC the 21-days NOEC for parental mortality was determined to be 0.0121 mg/L based on calculation of the geometric mean with correction upon background concentrations.
