Designated National Authorities

Under the PIC Regulation each EU Member State shall designate an authority or authorities (DNAs) to carry out the administrative functions foreseen by the PIC Regulation. Information on DNAs includes contact details and whether they are responsible for industrial chemicals, pesticides or both.

To the extent possible, ECHA makes similar information available for non-EU countries, based on the information that has been provided to ECHA.

Note relating to Brexit

The United Kingdom withdrew from the European Union on the 31 January 2020, and the transition period foreseen under the Withdrawal Agreement ended on 31 December 2020.

“United Kingdom (Northern Ireland)” is however listed as an “EU Country” since, in accordance with the Protocol on Ireland / Northern Ireland, the PIC Regulation continues to apply to that country. “United Kingdom (Great Britain)” is listed as a “Non-EU Country”.

User Interface

In all data views, if relevant, it is possible to use the following controls:

• Summary – giving informative counts based on the results presented; either the full dataset or a filtered set of search results.
• Search – allowing filtering by various search criteria. Criteria include:
  • Designated national authority – search by the identity of the authority, its category (whether it handles industrial chemicals or pesticides), the country in question, and whether this country is an OECD, or EU member, or is a party to the Rotterdam Convention.
  • Multiple search criteria provided will be combined with AND logic, meaning that the search will return results where all of the selected criteria are true.
• Export – allowing the set of results presented to be exported in various formats, XLSX, CSV, or XML.
• Feedback – linking to the appropriate ECHA contact form so questions or comments can be sent to the ECHA helpdesk.
• Help – opening a modal popup window with some information about the data presented and the options to interact with the data.
