ECHA's current activities on restrictions
ECHA is reviewing existing restriction entries and carrying out preparatory work for possible submission of Annex XV restriction proposals. The table provides information on the current activities. ECHA may launch consultations or calls for comments and evidence in relation to these activities.
Substance Name | EC number | CAS number | Type of the task | Scope of the task | Entry in Annex XVII | Other remarks |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Chromium trioxide, acids generated from chromium trioxide and their oligomers | - | - | Prepare an Annex XV restriction dossier | The Commission is requesting ECHA to prepare a restriction dossier in line with the requirements of Annex XV in view of a possible restriction of at least two Cr(VI) substances: Chromium trioxide (entry 16 in Annex XIV) and Chromic acid (entry 17 in Annex XIV). The number of applications for authorisation for the use of certain Cr(VI) substances has far exceeded the predictions at the time of inclusion of the substances in REACH Annex XIV, and the approach envisaged for regulating Cr(VI) substances (authorisation) is no longer appropriate to control the risk to human health posed by these substances. | ||
Substances which are classified as carcinogen, germ cell mutagen or reproductive toxicant category 1A or 1B in Part 3 of Annex VI to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 | - | - | Prepare an investigation report | Collect and summarise various information on the potential presence of CMR 1A and 1B substances in childcare articles to support the Commission’s preparation of a restriction proposal as per REACH Article 68(2). | Commission's request to ECHA [PDF] | |
tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP); |
204-118-5; |
115-96-8; |
Prepare an Annex XV restriction dossier | Prepare an Annex XV restriction dossier addressing at the minimum the risk for children from exposure to TCEP, TCPP and TDCP in flexible polyurethane (PUR) foams in childcare articles and residential upholstered furniture. The restriction dossier may cover risks from these substances in mattresses for adults and textiles as well as other articles. | Commission's request to ECHA |
